Do you think having an Internet business sounds like a good idea? It did for me. Here is what I liked about the Internet business:

• I was tired of working for someone else…I wanted my own business.

• I wanted to work from home; I was tired of working at a schedule someone else set!

• The Internet business offered a way for me to realize my creative skills to the fullest.

• An Internet business has no limits…The potential is only limited by me. I have no one standing in my way. If I don’t make a great income, it is my fault.

• I could start the business from home while I still worked full time in my “regular” job.

• There was very little risk involved. I LOVED that part…especially after having failed in a few brick and mortar businesses. Failing in a business “down town” means a LOT of lost money! With an Internet business, there is very little down side and a virtually unlimited upside!

Here are some tips on what NOT to do when starting out. I want to “head you off at the pass” from making some really stupid mistakes.

Here are my “top of the list” stupid mistakes I see would-be entrepreneurs making:

• Stop trying to make money right now. You won’t! It is not possible for you or anyone to get the idea in their head of starting an Internet business and begin making money next week…or even next month! You MUST spend this early time in your Internet marketing career educating yourself! I see so many beginners putting the cart before the horse in this respect!

• Don’t try to make money online with AdWords if you are a beginner. You won’t! There is so much to know about being profitable with AdWords! Go to my site and watch the video about AdWords BEFORE you start your first campaign!

• In my opinion you stand about a 0.1% chance of success if you plan to make money on the Internet WITHOUT learning web design! There are many scams out there promising you “thousands of dollars” simply by entering data into ads…such as AdWords and free classified sites. DO NOT BELIEVE IT! Yes, there are some people making good money with AdWords only. But unless you have a large budget of “practice money” which you can pay for clicks early on, you’ll never learn to make money with AdWords. Please trust me on this and don’t waste your time “submitting ads” right now. Also, DO NOT fall for those Data Entry SCAMS!

• Don’t make the mistake in thinking you can start making money without ANY investment. Forget the idea of money for nothing. Here is the bare minimum you should expect to invest. If you aren’t willing to spend this much money, you should go find another venture. $8.95 per year for a domain name…$6.00 per month for hosting your site…$50 to $100 for a good web editor like DreamWeaver…$400 for a pretty good computer (check Dell’s Refurbished site for the best deals)…and an investment in products if you are going to be selling physical products.

• Don’t expect “easy money” with “few hours worked.” If you think Internet marketers spend a few hours a day on their computer and then go play, think again! You MIGHT be able to have this kind of schedule after you become very successful, but early on you will need to spend every possible minute on your computer…and I do mean EVERY POSSIBLE MINUTE. Your biggest obstacle to success may be your spouse at first.

• Do not think that successful Internet marketers are smarter than you are…We are not. Do not think that successful Internet marketers got lucky…We did not.

• And the number one trait you MUST NOT HAVE as a beginning Internet entrepreneur is fear of failure. You will FAIL! Not once, not twice, but more than likely (unless you get lucky) many times! Remember that “failure” to an Internet marketer is called “testing”. Test and test and test until you find your niche and what you are good at. Success will come!

Please reread this and think about what I have said here. You MUST enter into an online venture in the right frame of mind with correct expecations!
